MIAMI, FL – October 27, 2025 The Partnership for Miami joins Miami-Dade County in celebrating the launch of Metro Express, the first of six rapid transit corridors in the Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Plan and the county’s first major rapid transit expansion in decades.

Metro Express represents an important step forward in improving how Miami-Dade moves, with a 20-mile Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line expected to reduce commute times during rush hours and ease traffic congestion.

As we celebrate this progress, the Partnership for Miami remains focused on advancing additional mobility solutions such as the Northeast Corridor, a 13.5-mile rail link that will bring the benefits of rapid transit to more than 100,000 residents and serve as the first phase of a Coastal Link connecting Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Enhanced mobility improves quality of life — opening doors to jobs, education and healthcare while strengthening the competitiveness of Miami’s economy. Metro Express is an encouraging first step, and a reminder that investing in how we move Miami is investing in how we live.
